Yes, Granny actually got a cat! Which....well, let's just hope all goes well :) She was full of strange jazz today, I must say! First of all, I must point out that she named her bird Birdie, so you can probably guess what she named the cat...
...Yes, she named the kitty Kitty....
Granny has never before had a cat, only dogs all her life, so it surprised her when the cat was long and slinky. When we first took Kitty out of the carrier, she suddenly cried, "Oh, my! It's a snake-cat!" Several moments later, she noticed its striped tail, which apparently was simply unheard of to her... In all seriousness she asked my mom, "Oh Eileen, do you think maybe it's part raccoon?" Later on as it explored her living room, it crossed by her curtains. Delighted, she exclaimed, "Eileen, Eileen! It matches the drapes!!!" And a bit later, out of nowhere for no apparent reason as far as I can tell, she said, "Birdie, are you part lion?!"
...Yes, she asked if Birdie was part lion, not the cat...
In other Granny-related news, we also found this doll from the 1800's. It was the creepiest, most hideous thing I have ever seen, and the fact that the wig was made from real human hair and that it had no eyes has left me scarred for life. As my mother and aunt told us how freaked out they were as they saw it in the night as children, Granny picked it up and said, "Aww, it's so cute!"

Luckily, Granny seems to have forgotten that I was the one who poked out the eyes as a toddler. To this day, I remain convinced that I was trying to release the demons inside it.
